We had to go here as we missed out on our road trip! We felt guilty, so Char got onto Skyscanner, which is pretty much how all of our trips start. She finds well cheap flights! All of our flights, apart from one, have cost less than £200 for all four of us.
Prague Old Town
So, Prague. It was nice! Not really the Stag Do destination we thought it was gonna be, but then again, we didn’t go out at night or anything. The Main Square or The Old Town Square was cool, with all the touristy places – bars and cafes and that. There was a street performer there doing massive bubbles with sticks and bits of rope. Turns out these dudes are all over Europe! Don’t think they’ve made it to the UK yet mind. Stan got knocked over by a Japanese dude who was taking pics of said bubbles, and not looking where he was going. Poor Stan.
There was this massively famous clock in the square which was anatomical or whatever it’s called. No, that doesn’t make sense. Astronomical. That was it. Whatever that means. It was basically a massive cuckoo clock, but less fun. About a hundred people gathered around it on the hour to watch it. Big anti-climax. We then had a walk around the back alleys, and appropriately found a sex museum! We didn’t go in.
While we were deciding which way to go next, there was an amazing cacophony of singing coming from round the corner. Initially, I thought this was a cool word to use, but turns out I got the meaning a bit wrong! I thought it just meant ‘loud noise’ or summat, but it actually means an unpleasant mixture of loud sounds. This wasn’t that, it was actually uncacophonic, if that’s a thing. Spell check says it isn’t, but I’m leaving it in. Anyway, a massive procession of men and women came pouring into the alleyway, singing ‘Hallelujah’ and dancing, and just being jolly! We followed them to another square where they formed a circle. We joined in, danced, and I threw Stan in the air a bit. Was really cool. Turns out they were a religious cult or summat, but they were so nice, I would have joined!
Had a bit more of a walk through a park, and found a piano! I played it and Char was like ‘Oh so you play piano as well’!? Yep. Well, just 2 songs. 3 if you count the first bit of Moonlight Sonata. If this was a park in the UK, and there was a piano in it, 100% it would have been smashed up within two days of it being there! We then found a Hooter’s Bar! I’d never been in one before, so took Stan in! I bought a coke, then gave Stan to a Hooter’s girl and asked for a picture! It’s an ace pic and he is gonna be well chuffed when he is older. One day, we’ll go back and recreate it with a 45-year-old Hooter’s veteran.
Next day, we went to the Zoo. Standard day out for us! They are so much cheaper over there than the UK. London Zoo is about a million pound each. Worst bit about the zoo was realising how rude Czechs were. Adults standing in the way of kids when they are looking at summat, or kids pushing in when we were quite clearly queuing correctly. After this, went back to town and saw the Dancing House, or Fred and Ginger. Great architecture with bendy buildings. Tidy.
Stan and Gorilla (not real)
We then had a walk up to Petrin Tower. I say we, I pushed Stan up this horrid, horrid hill, while the girls stood in a queue to go up the funicular! It was hard graft. Beat them up mind. Petrin Tower is an observation tower which looks a bit like the Eiffel Tower, with ace views of Prague. There was also a Mirror Maze up there, but Trip Advisor reviews were not great!
Next on the list was a Toy Museum, with the 2nd largest collection of toys in the world! There was every single Barbie doll you could think of. Some amazing and scary old dolls, and a load of old tat. Outside, saw a naked statue with a shiny willy from where everyone has touched it. Oh, it wasn’t here, but we also saw a TV tower thing, with giant babies crawling up the side of it! Bonkers. We didn’t actually see it properly as it was peeing down with rain! Got out the tube station, and out was hammering it down, so we turned round! Metro stations were cool.
Char really liked Prague. I gave it a 6 out of 10.
