This is a lovely place. Busy, and full of tourists, like us, but a nice place. It’s even managed to sneak into my famous Top Four Cities I’ve Visited. Loads to do, loads to see, loads of history, loads.

Barcelona
For some reason, I never wanted to go to Spain. Now I know that if you speak to some Barcelonians (not actually what they’re called), it isn’t actually Spain, but you know what I mean. Turns out, I loved Barcelona! It made it to my Top 4 Cities of Europe I’ve Visited So Far list. Number 3 in fact.
Road Trip Part 2
I say ‘Part 2’ like this is a continuation of the last, but it isn’t. Think I just panicked when deciding the name. I could have named it Lake Garda, as that was the main bit really, but it was book-ended with some driving to and from there.
Krakow
Poland was always on our list to visit. Flights were always cheap! There were places like Poznan and Gdansk, which just sounds cool. We picked Krakow though, just because we had heard good things about it, and there was plenty to do there. So we went.
Prague
We had to go here as we missed out on our road trip! We felt guilty, so Char got onto Skyscanner, which is pretty much how all of our trips start. She finds well cheap flights! All of our flights, apart from one, have cost less than £200 for all four of us.
Copenhagen and Malmo
Copenhagen has been my favourite place we’ve visited. Of all the cities in Europe, this was my favourite. Sorry Amsterdam, Barcelona and Edinburgh (my other favourite cities), this was the best. Scandinavian countries always top the polls for the happiest places to live, and there is this thing called Hygge, which is lovely. I can’t put my finger on what was so great about it, but it just felt right. The people, the things to do and see, and happy I felt there. Hopefully this little blog will ensure more of you go and visit it, as you will not be disappointed!
Dublin
This next trip was just me and Char! What a treat! It was for my birthday innit. A spa trip, in Dublin. I’d never been before, to a spa or Dublin! Oh this is bit of a lie. I did accidentally go to a naked spa in Germany once, but that’s probably left for another blog. I say once, we did enjoy it so went again a few days later. We were tricked into it the first time mind!
8 Countries in 8 Days
Less than a month after coming back from Amsterdam, we were off again. We had talked about doing a road trip, maximising countries whilst keeping costs down. We wanted to see cool things, but knew there’d be a lot of driving. The main concern was the kids being in the car for long periods. They had always been good in the car, traveled well for a couple of hours at a time. We wanted to plan the journey so we would drive for two hours, do something, drive for two hours, then stay in hotel or wherever. This nearly worked, but not quite. We ended up completely missing out Czech Republic from our planned journey (sorry Czech Republic, but we will return). This was mainly because Germany is MASSIVE and takes ages to drive across! So, revised plan, whilst on the road, was this:
UK – France – Belgium – Luxembourg – France – Switzerland – Liechenstein – Austria – Germany – The Netherlands – Belgium – France – UK. 8 countries. 8 days. Lets do this.
Amsterdam
We went to Amsterdam for our first of the ‘5 New Countries’ tour! It was really nice too. Good bit was – going to Amsterdam. Bad bit was – having to go to Hull first. Let me explain. Continue reading “Amsterdam”
Hello
I didn’t know how to start a travel blog, but thought ‘hello’ would do. It’s quite polite. Informal maybe, but polite.
I’ve always wanted to start a travel journal of some kind. We’ve done a fair bit of travelling over the last couple of years, and thought a blog would be a great reminder of where we have been, what we have done, and hopefully give others some great ideas for their own travel. You always see loads of travel blogs on the internet, with stuff like ‘ooh look how great this beach is’ or ‘wow look at this monk’ or whatever. This isn’t going to be one of those.
